6/10/26

Ed turned up half hour early and started breaking up some rocks before the rest of us arrived, mostly the one James extracted at the end last week. After moving those rocks, Estelle and Harley dug down in the floor, with Ed supporting, whilst the others were moving rocks / buckets back up the passage. James arrived having walked the dog up and joined in the haul. Digging down was removing rocks and spoil and quite quickly moved to the clay being quite wet, whilst still going down. A large rock in the middle was left for Ed to break up with plug and feather in situ after we ran out of buckets. The hole is clearly going down well and likely to break into the same rift as the other hole in the floor is in, potentially allowing us to level over the original hole, also means we shouldn't end up with a pool that doesn't drain at the end if we can get this open. After all the buckets were filled, all bar Ed helped with haul and dumping the spoil down the old LH dig, whilst he coninued plug and feather to make rocks smaller and deal with the one in the floor. Lots nicely broken up. Estelle took some photos and video. All headed to the Hunters after.

Report from Mike

James and Harley were digging, with Mike and Jon tidying up/ moving rocks and buckets back. Harley removed a couple of largish ones from centre left, Estelle then arrived after walking the dog over, and we shifted 35 buckets to empty down the side passage. James meanwhile took out another large one (several pieces!) from the left, before joining us for the final hauls. Last week we added an extra rope to the small gate into the field as the catch is no longer lining up with the post. Hunters' after.
